Pete's Garage was created as a one-stop destination store serving outdoor athletes, but it is also meant to honor the legacy of the owners' great grandfather Pete Lorenzen. Kurt and Tyson Schwiesow grew up hearing their grandmother tell stories of her father's life as a new immigrant to the United States.
At 15 years old, he came to the United States from Europe with, as their grandmother would tell it, nothing but a suitcase and a sausage. He was part of the Oklahoma Land Rush of 1893. He joined Buffalo Bill’s Wild West Show for a time. A serial entrepreneur, he opened a Harley-Davidson motorcycle garage in the 1910s in Chicago. He lived to be 96.
Kurt Schwiesow says - “We grew up hearing about Pete’s Garage, we wanted to take ownership of it.”
Pete's Garage is located in Historic Downtown Green Bay, WI in a newly renovated building that started as an International Harvester dealership in the 1930s and is now the largest outdoor sporting goods showroom in Northeast Wisconsin.
