Returns and Shipping

SHIPPING (Continental U.S.)

  • Once placed, most online orders ship within one to two business day. Bike purchases that require shipment will take an additonal two to four days for processing and packaging. Orders placed after 12pm CST on Fridays through Sundays will process on the following Monday.
  • Please note that some items may be subject to additional shipping and handling charges because of size or weight.
  • We do not ship outside of the Continental U.S.

IN-STORE PICKUP

Most orders will be ready within one business day. Please keep in mind that some items may require additional processing time to assemble. We will call, text or email you once your order is ready for pickup. If you need an item right away we ask that you call us to confirm that the product is available before heading over to our store. Unless special arrangements are made in advance, orders must be picked up within 30 days, after which time the items will be returned to the shop and in-store credit issued under the purchaser's name.

BACKORDERS

Occasionally, some items are unexpectedly out of stock or unavailable and may be backordered. If this should occur, we will only bill your credit card for merchandise that is actually shipped. The total shipping charge for orders split into multiple shipments will not exceed the amount quoted on original order.

RETURNS

We hope you love your purchase from Pete's Garage, but if you don't we'll make every effort to exchange or refund your purchase. Please see below for details of our return policy:

  • All bicycle sales are FINAL.
  • Full priced items are eligible for exchage or refund within 30 days of the purchase. Eligible items must remain in new, unused condition with all original packaging intact. Proof of purchase required.
  • Sale items are eligable for in-store credit or exchange only. Proof of purchase required.
  • Closeout items or clearance items (defined as any items marked below 50% of MSRP) are FINAL SALE.
  • Specail order items are subject to a 20% restocking fee upon return.

The Silca Ultimate Chain Stripper And Wax Prep minimizes the complexity, cost and time investment of stripping factory lubricant from a chain prior to waxing.

Silca designed this biodegradable, eco-friendly, one-step solution for chain preparation by looking at the desired results of the process and working backwards. Silca identified chemicals that drive out greases and oils while promoting wax adhesion to metal to create a viable product. The result is a highly concentrated degreaser combined with a primer that allows for fast, single-step preparation of factory chains in under 10 minutes.

Traditionally, this process could take an hour or more, using two or three harsh solvents and multiple rinse steps to move from non-polar solvents that thin greases to polar solvents that evaporate residues. Instead, this solution acts to lift and encapsulate factory lubricant in two quick and easy applications, while also priming the metal surface to improve wax adhesion. By doing so, it will improve your chain life by up to 30%.

There are two different methods for preparing your chain for hot melt and drip-applied waxing. For drip application, you can prepare a new or nearly new chain in situ on your bike. First, backpedal and add one drop of the chain stripper to each roller, allowing it to permeate for five minutes. Next, backpedal 10 further revolutions to agitate the stripper, then once more apply one drop per roller. Let it sit for another five minutes, then rinse the chain with clean water while backpedaling 10 revolutions.

For hot melt waxing, take the chain off the bike and immerse it in the Silca Ultimate Chain Stripper And Wax Prep. Agitate it for 30 seconds, before letting it sit for five to 10 minutes, then agitate again for 30 seconds. Remove the chain and rinse it with water to remove the encapsulated grease and oils. Your chain will be clean, prepped and ready for waxing, with its surface primed to promote wax adhesion and a long life.
